The State Mosquito Management Program today announced positive test for West Nile virus in mosquitoes in 12 Connecticut towns.

The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station trapped the positive mosquitoes in Glastonbury, Manchester, Plainfield, Bridgeport, East Haven, Fairfield, Greenwich, New Haven, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, and Wesport.

August and September are typically the months were West Nile virus risk is the greatest. Young children and the elderly are the most susceptible, although everyone should take steps to prevent mosquito bites, according to the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
