West Hartford based IT managed services firm CompassMSP has merged with rival BlackPoint IT.
The combined organization, operating as CompassMSP, will offer expanded geographical reach, with BlackPoint’s major offices in Seattle, Dallas and Phoenix.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
It adds more than 100 employees to CompassMSP’s 300-strong workforce.
CompassMSP says that the move will allow the combined company to focus on supporting businesses ranging from small and midsize operations to complex mid-market enterprises.
“This merger isn’t just about size — it’s about strength,” said Michael Rapp, CEO of the newly combined company. “Together, CompassMSP and BlackPoint IT have created a right-sized, nationwide platform focused on delivering unmatched value and protection to our clients.”
The company also says the deal will immediately broaden its service portfolio, providing shared clients with access to cybersecurity solutions, cloud migration, unified communications and compliance services.
Growth by acquisition has been a long-term strategy of the company. Formerly based in Florida, West Hartford became CompassMSP’s home
in 2021 when it acquired IT Direct. IT Direct CEO Ari Santiago, well known for his Made in America podcast, became the company’s CEO.
But Santiago stepped down from the top spot last month, in favor of Michael Rapp. Santiago remains with CompassMSP as an adviser and investor.
