West Hartford’s blumshapiro acquires another Mass. firm

West Hartford-based accounting and consulting firm blumshapiro has expanded its New England presence with the acquisition of a firm in northeastern Massachusetts.

Blumshapiro announced Thursday it completed its purchase of Cowan Bolduc Doherty (CBD), of North Andover, Mass., for an undisclosed amount. Officials said CBD will adopt the blumshapiro name.

The acquisition adds 20 employees and three partners to blumshapiro, and marks the West Hartford firm’s fifth location in Massachusetts. CBD’s team specializes in business, financial and client accounting; financial and tax due diligence; business financing; estate planning; and individual tax preparation and planning, among other areas.

Blumshapiro CEO Joseph A. Kask said CBD has a strong reputation in the industry and “greatly complements” his firm.
