West Hartford leaders OK plan to bring high-end Arhaus Furniture store to Westfarms

The West Hartford Town Council held a public hearing and voted 9-0 late Tuesday to approve a proposal that will bring the high-end boutique store Arhaus Furniture to the lower level at Westfarms mall, according to West Hartford Assistant Town Clerk Nadia Kahn.

The council vote follows a 5-0 positive recommendation by the Town Plan and Zoning Commission earlier this month for the store to occupy space at the mall.

Construction at the site could begin immediately, West Hartford Associate Town Planner Brian Pudlik recently told the Hartford Business Journal.

The furniture store’s application asked for an amendment to the Special Development District to accommodate exterior architectural, signage and site improvements.

The store would be located on the east side of the mall facing New Britain Avenue. The furniture store would occupy space previously rented by a Ruby Tuesday restaurant. That space and an adjoining retail tenant space will be combined and renovated to make way for Arhaus. That work will entail new landscaping and minor site improvements along, and in front of, the store.

Pudlik said it’s not clear, at this time, when the new store will be occupied.
