West Hartford-based law firm Gfeller Laurie LLP has named litigation partner Melicent B. Thompson as its managing partner.
Thompson joined the firm in January 2020 as a partner, after 25 years of litigation experience in Connecticut and Georgia.
She practices insurance law, which includes providing coverage advice and related litigation services, including declaratory judgment actions, defense of bad faith claims and reinsurance matters.
She received her law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
Gfeller Laurie, which was founded 13 years ago, has 22 attorneys and nine administrators across six offices in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The firm says it’s seeking to “identify and develop new leaders and implement a management structure that allows the firm to improve its competitive position in the legal marketplace.”
