Girtz, headquartered in Monticello, Indiana, manufactures modular power systems used in data centers and other mission-critical facilities.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Girtz employs about 300 people and generates about $80 million in annual revenue, according to an announcement. The company designs and manufactures custom-engineered modular power enclosures, known as Power Pods, as well as related testing and technical services.
The acquisition is Legrand's third major power infrastructure deal in less than a year.
In October, Legrand acquired Cleveland-based Avtron Power Solutions, a manufacturer of backup power systems and load-bank testing equipment used in data centers, healthcare facilities and other critical infrastructure.
Four months later, in February, the company acquired Colorado-based Kratos Industries, which manufactures low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems primarily for data centers.
Legrand said Girtz's offerings complement its existing power and infrastructure businesses and will strengthen its position in the North American data center market.
Data centers have become one of the company's fastest-growing business segments, as operators invest billions of dollars in new facilities to support cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
Legrand, a French manufacturer of electrical and digital building infrastructure products, maintains its North and Central American headquarters at 60 Woodlawn St. in West Hartford.
