What are your most significant accomplishments in the last year?
In the past year, Wepco Plastics has made significant strides in on-time delivery of molded parts orders, achieving almost 100 percent of our targets. We are frequently reviewing our best practices by holding Kaizen events with Connstep, a business consulting firm specializing in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. These improvements have not only dramatically improved our efficiency, they have also allowed us to provide our customers with the highest-quality parts and exceptional service.Â
I am very proud of the Wepco team for delivering in these areas. Our dedication to continuous improvement is non-wavering and is part of the Wepco Plastics culture now and in the future.Â
How do you instill your family values in your employees?
Waldo Parmelee started this company with one machine in his basement in the early 1980s. Fast-forward 30 years and we have 25 employees and a state-of-the-art, 10,000-square-foot facility. I am extremely proud of my father and his accomplishments, none of which would have happened if he wasn't such an incredible man and didn't have the best team possible.
When you talk about family values you say words like trust, understanding, commitment; Waldo has always been fair with everyone and treated them with the utmost respect. He is a true 'class act' in every sense of the word and it is by his example that we imply these family values at Wepco Plastics. Our team is truly extraordinary and we wouldn't be here without their hard work and dedication that they give us each and every day.
What are the top two goals for your company over the next 10 years?
In the next 10 years, we have several goals with the most importance being placed on continuing to grow our revenue and improve our culture. Constantly increasing revenue is important for any company. We want to add revenue and continually cut costs to improve our profits. Doing this will give us the confidence to proceed to invest in our team as well as new equipment, and give our employees and customers the confidence that we will be in business for the next 30 years.
I envision Wepco going from a $2 million to $3 million company to a $8 million to $10 million company while our focus remains on always providing a great place to work by improving the culture for the better. We spend more time at work than at home so it is very important that our team members enjoy coming to work every day.
