CAS Medical Systems Inc. in Branford said Thursday that Kenneth R. Weisshaar, a biotechnology veteran with a finance background, has joined its board of directors.
Weisshaar, whose addition expands the CAS board to six, will serve on the audit committee.
He is a director of orthopedics maker Orthofix International N.V. and Precision Therapeutics, involved in cancer diagnostics. He is a former director of Digene Corp. and spent 12 years at medical technology company Becton, Dickinson & Co. as chief financial officer and other posts.
Weisshaar earned a BS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard University.
CAS Medical makes non-invasive equipment to monitor oxygen levels in the brain during surgery, and blood-pressure monitors, cuffs and other supplies for newborns.
