The Waterbury parent of Webster Bank has hired European banker Daniel Bley to run its credit, compliance and internal audit operations as chief risk officer.
Bley, who also was named executive vice president, reports to Jerry Plus, Webster Financial’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Since 1994, Bley has worked at ABN Amro and Royal Bank of Scotland – the parent of Citizens Bank Connecticut. ABN Amro acquired RBS in 2009.
At RBS, Bley was a managing director in its financial institutions credit group, leading a team of senior credit officers covering global exposures to North American financial institutions. He previously was group senior vice president and head of financial Institutions and trading credit risk management at ABN Amro from 2002 to 2008.
Bley is a graduate of the University of Michigan and has an MBA in finance and strategy from the London Business School. Â
