Waterbury-based Webster Bank has made a significant undisclosed financial investment to support the construction of the new Basketball Development Center on University of Connecticut Storrs campus.
The bank called the UConn deal a unique partnership to bring together the university’s marketing acticities, its high-profile athletic program, and efforts to reach out to more than 20,000 alumni and 28,000 UConn students. Webster also will provide support for the basketball center.
Webster said it would not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
More than $21.5 million has been raised to construct the basketball center on the former site of Memorial Stadium. It is the first UConn building project funded entirely through private donation. It has reached 60 percent of its targeted goal.
