Webster hiring 150 to sell bank services, products

Webster Bank announced today it will fill 150 full- and part-time positions across its four-state territory in coming months.

The regional bank unit of Waterbury-based Webster Financial Corp. said it’s looking to fill newly created positions within its branch network and at its Customer Care Center in Wallingford. It said it is particularly interested in hiring experienced bankers to sell financial products and services to small businesses.

The announcement comes a week after Webster disclosed plans to double its 2010 lending to $850 million.

“In order to achieve our goal of increasing lending to small- and medium-sized businesses … we have a growing need for individuals who share our passion for high-quality personal service and our mission to help families and businesses reach their financial goal,” said Webster Chairman and CEO Jim Smith.
