Webster Financial adds to senior staff

Webster Bank has added a new senior banker and a longtime economic developer to its roster.

Kevin E. Flaherty has joined the company as senior vice president of middle market commercial banking, where he will be responsible for developing new commercial business in northern Connecticut and western Massachusetts.

Flaherty, who will be based in Hartford, joins Webster from Sovereign Bank, where he most recently served as market president for Connecticut and western Massachusetts. Flaherty has more than 30 years experience in Connecticut and western Massachusetts markets and previously served as senior vice president and director of BankBoston and as vice president for State Street Bank.

Webster Bank has also appointed Peter Mosbacher as its senior vice president of community development.

In his position, Mosbacher will focus on creating strategic partnerships with developers, government agencies and non-profit community-based organizations involved with affordable housing and economic development across the bank’s four state footprint extending from Boston to Westchester County, New York.

Mosbacher joins Webster from Amalgamated Bank in New York City, where he most recently served as senior vice president for Community Reinvestment Act and Community Development.
