Webster Bank has converted its customer service operations, located in Wallingford, to a 24-hour a day, seven-day-a-week schedule. The move came in time to support Webster’s expansion in Greater Boston.
Previously, the center was open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The expanded hours have required hiring five additional employees, according to a bank spokesperson.
The timing of the 24/7 launch was especially important with the opening of 17 new banking centers in Greater Boston, officials said in a statement. In January, the bank took over the leases for 17 former Citibank branches.
The center was needed to help open accounts and take credit card and loan applications. Some of the most frequently asked questions so far have been related to balance and transaction inquiries, as well as card activations.
