Webster bows Storrs Center branch in UConn’s shadow

Waterbury’s Webster Bank has opened a branch in Storrs Center, the mixed-use development near UConn.

The 1,485-square-foot banking center debuted just as university students begin returning for fall classes.

A formal grand opening is set for Sept. 12.

Webster also is the official bank for the state’s flagship university and its athletics department. Men’s basketball coach Kevin Ollie also is a paid bank spokesman.

Emma Lindsay and Greg Wilson — both UConn alumni — head the branch’s leadership team, the bank said.

Its service features include Wi-Fi, digital displays, an image capture envelope free ATM, a coin counter, and a 24/7 deposit box.

Pavarini Construction oversaw fit-out of the space. Antinozzi Associates handled interior design.

It is Webster’s 169th branch office in Connecticut, Boston, and Westchester County, N.Y.
