Webster Bank shakes up regional leadership

Webster Bank is shaking up its regional leadership, including giving its Hartford president an expanded role.

Webster announced the changes ahead of its $10.3 billion merger with New York’s Sterling Bancorp, slated to close later this year.

Timothy D. Bergstrom, who has overseen Webster’s Hartford market operations as regional president, will now add Middlesex and New Haven counties to his turf. He joined Webster in 1998 and became Greater Hartford regional president in 2014.

Webster also named Martin Anderson to a newly created regional president role for Fairfield County, where Webster will move its headquarters post-merger.

Michael L. O’Connor, Waterbury regional president, will remain in that role.
