Webster Bank names new executive to C-suite

Stamford-based Webster Financial Corp. on Tuesday announced a new member of its C-suite.

Jason E. Schugel has been named the regional lender’s chief risk officer and executive vice president. Webster also named Frederick J. Crawford to its board of directors.

Schugel, who most recently served as chief risk officer at Ally Bank, will assume the role on July 14. He succeeds Daniel Bley, who is retiring but will remain temporarily in an advisory capacity to aid the transition. Schugel brings over 25 years of experience in financial strategy, audit and risk management, said Webster, which has more than $80 billion in assets.

He earned his MBA from Wake Forest University’s Babcock Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Southern Methodist University.
