Four months after being shut down, a Watertown steering wheel manufacturing company is back in business.
Private investors have bought the assets of the former DriveSol Worldwide Inc. plant. The parent company announced in December it was shutting down the Watertown plant and laying off 241 workers.
Plant manager Gabe Rosa says the new company is Global Steering Systems and it’s been back in operation since Tuesday.
A Chinese company, Wanxiang America Corp., with U.S. headquarters in Chicago, is listed as one of the private investors.
The plant’s reopening comes a week after Gov. M. Jodi Rell announced a $2 million loan to the company. (AP)
