Waterford’s Sonalysts gets new funding for work on Air Force space trainer

Sonalysts, the Waterford-based company that does software and systems engineering for the military, has been awarded a $7.9 million contract modification for work on an Air Force space simulator.

The new funding will go toward sustainment of hardware and software for the standard space trainer, which is based at Space Systems Command in Colorado.

Sonalysts was key in developing the space trainer, which debuted for the Air Force in 2011. It’s used to skill up Air Force satellite operators.

The modification brings the total value of the ongoing contract to $198 million. Work will be performed in Waterford and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
