The Connecticut Lodging Association recognized three hotel team members from Waterford Hotel Group with “Stars of the Industry” awards during the CLA’s 110th annual meeting at the Madison Beach Hotel.
The CLA’s “Stars of the Industry” awards are presented annually to lodging employees that demonstrate exemplary professionalism and exceptional service, recognizing their outstanding hospitality achievements.
Shipman & Goodwin attorney appointed to state tax panel
Shipman & Goodwin Partner Louis B. Schatz has been selected by the state legislature’s Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee to serve on the State Tax Panel, which is trying to develop a more economically competitive tax structure in Connecticut.
Schatz practices in the areas of federal and state tax with attention to the representation of closely held businesses organized as limited liability companies, partnerships and S-corporations; real estate joint ventures; and representation of taxpayers involved in state tax controversies.
In 2013, Best Lawyers named Schatz “Lawyer of the Year” in tax law for the Hartford region.
CERC names Aquarion Water Co. exec to board
The Connecticut Economic Resource Center has named Aquarion Water Co.’s real estate director Liz Schultz to its board of directors.
Schultz has worked for Aquarion since 1984 and is responsible for overseeing the company’s property assets, including: 20,000 acres of land, buildings, leases, acquisition, and dispositions of excess properties; acquiring and negotiating easements, water system acquisitions, and managing real estate taxes.
Based in Rocky Hill, the Connecticut Economic Resource Center is a nonprofit corporation and public-private partnership that provides economic development services.
