Waterford forum to air Millstone nuke safety

Residents who live near the Millstone Nuclear Power Station in Waterford will get a chance to air their concerns about safety during a public forum, The Associated Press reports.

State Sen. Andrea Stillman and state Rep. Betsy Ritter organized Monday’s 7 p.m. meeting at Waterford Town Hall in response to ongoing concerns about the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan since the earthquake and tsunami struck the nation.

In addition to the Democratic lawmakers, representatives of Dominion, the company that owns Millstone, are scheduled to be available to describe the plant’s safety features.

Dominion officials say it’s “important to keep stakeholders informed” about issues surrounding the plant.
