PrecisionX Group, a Waterbury-based manufacturer of high-precision metal components, has been sold to a new private equity investor, its previous owner announced.
The buyer is Windjammer Capital, which acquired the company from Chicago- and Austin-based CORE Industrial Partners.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Windjammer, which has offices in California and Massachusetts, focuses on middle-market investments and has more than $2 billion in capital commitments, according to its website. The firm says it targets niche industrial and manufacturing businesses and has completed more than 100 acquisitions, representing roughly $8 billion in transaction value.
PrecisionX was formed in 2023 after CORE combined Waterbury-based GEM Manufacturing with New Jersey-based Coining Manufacturing. The company then expanded through a series of acquisitions, including National Manufacturing Co. in New Jersey and Ditron Inc. in New York, growing its capabilities in precision stamping and machining.
Today, PrecisionX employs more than 650 people across seven facilities totaling about 400,000 square feet. It supplies components to industries including aerospace and defense, medical devices, and satellite and space.
