Waterbury healthy juices wholesale startup opens downtown café

Two years after Jhevaun Gordon left a banking career to focus on his passion for producing healthy juice beverages, the longtime Waterbury resident is making the leap to opening a downtown storefront.

Gordon, 32, has spent about $20,000 and many hours preparing a roughly 1,200-square-foot space at 180 Grand St., in the heart of downtown Waterbury, as a new home for “Nature’s Ombre,” a café featuring more than 100 varieties of natural juice drinks.

“It allows me to develop more relationships with businesses and serve more of the community,” Gordon said. “It will also serve to spotlight this town. Now it has a place where people can hang out that caters to health and wellness through gourmet cold-press and blended juices.”

Gordon launched his brand in 2022 while working as sales consumer banker with Webster Bank. He decided to focus exclusively on the juice business in early 2024 and is now taking another big leap with his downtown storefront. It will serve as a contact point with new customers, as well as a production location for his wholesale business.

Gordon said he currently sells about 50 gallons of upscale juices monthly to private buyers and through LaBonne’s Market locations in Prospect and Watertown.

Nature’s Ombre celebrated its grand opening on Saturday.
