A green jobs apprenticeship program developed by two Waterbury companies has received the approval of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the two announced.
Under the program designed by Energy Systems Sales & Training LLC and the Industrial Management & Training Institute, military veterans can train to be solar panel installers and HVAC, electronics and plumbing technicians.
The program provides 368 hours of classroom and hands-on training — enough for graduates to qualify for the state’s PV2 solar electric license.
The VA approval means any veteran is eligible for federal funding to take enroll in the apprenticeship course.
