Washington Trust hires mortgage loan officer to serve Shoreline

The Washington Trust Company recently hired Old Saybrook resident Brad Thorpe as a new mortgage loan officer.

Thorpe will assist customers in Old Saybrook and the surrounding Shoreline area with their mortgage loan needs. The company offers fixed rate, adjustable rate, first-time homebuyer, construction and reverse mortgages, as well as home equity loans and lines of credit.

Thorpe joins Washington Trust with more than 14 years of lending experience in the banking industry. He began his career as a mortgage professional at People’s United Bank, where he served homebuyers and investors throughout the New England and New York regions. He joins Washington Trust from Wells Fargo, where he was most recently a private mortgage banker.

Wiggin and Dana lawyers picked for diversity effort

The law firm Wiggin and Dana recently selected counsel Anjali Dalal and associates Michael Addison and Jenna Cutler for leadership development with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.

Dalal will participate in the council’s 2022 Fellows program and Addison and Cutler will participate in the 2022 Pathfinders program. 

Managing Partner Tim Diemand said the three attorneys have distinguished themselves through client service, cultural engagement and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at Wiggin and in the broader legal profession.

The firm, which joined the council in 2021, has an action plan, DEI DRIVE, which aims to drive Wiggin and Dana into the top 33% of its law firm peer group for diversity in five years, and the top 25% in ten years.

Realtor garners recognition for land sale

Carl G. Russell, a senior commercial broker with Pearce Real Estate in North Haven, was recently recognized with the 2021 Land Sale Deal of the Year Award.

The recognition comes from Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

CCIM includes brokers, leasing professionals and other experts in real estate and related fields. 

Russell was recognized for his sale last year of a 13.26-acre parcel at 185 Plains Road in Milford for $1.5 million. Russell represented both the seller and the buyer, who acquired the property for future expansion or development.
