Walmart, Dunkin Donuts top CT Medicaid beneficiary list

Walmart, Dunkin Donuts and Stop & Shop employ the largest number of workers in Connecticut whose families rely on the state’s Medicaid program for health insurance coverage, according to a recent report from the state’s Office of Legislative Research.

The report listed the top 25 individual employers whose employees’ children, and in some case the employees, are receiving insurance coverage from the state’s HUSKY Medicaid program, which covers families that earn between 150 percent to 185 percent of the federal poverty level.

Walmart has 3,654 Connecticut employees or their children enrolled in the program, while Dunkin Donuts and Stop & Shop have 3,186 and 2,828 enrollees respectively.
