Wallingford company lands German fuel cell job

Wallingford’s Proton OnSite said it has won a contract to install a hydrogen generator at one of Germany’s first fuel-cell vehicle fueling stations.

The European nation aims to build 50 fuel-cell stations by next year, under an initiative called H2Mobility.

Proton OnSite will work with Danish builder H2 Logic to install a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer at the new station, which is located in Hamburg.

The SunHydro commercial fueling station in Wallingford, which opened in 2010, uses the same kind of electrolyzer, according to Proton. The station has dispensed approximately 18,000 pounds of hydrogen during more than 2,000 vehicle fill ups, Proton said.
