A Westport software developer in which Connecticut owns a majority stake has brought in a former Morgan Stanley finance executive from Wall Street to be its chief executive officer.
Weston Software Inc. said Tuesday that Edward “Ed’ Samson has been appointed CEO.
He replaces Hank Voight, who will continue as founder and chief technology officer.
Weston Software manages Macintosh, Linux, UNIX, and hypervisors in the data center, local, remote, or mobile; in virtual environments; and in the private, public, or hybrid cloud Voight, founder.
Samson most recently was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney responsible for the Garden City, N.Y. office. He also worked at Prudential Securities and Citi Smith Barney.
Prior entering the finance sector, he served four years as an assistant district attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
“Ed Samson has over two decades of strong leadership experience and deep financial insight,” said Peter Longo, president and executive director of lead investor Connecticut Innovations Inc., the state’s technology investment arm.
Samson has a degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a law degree from Penn State.
Samson is an avid skier, competitive tennis player and active commercial pilot who lives with his wife and four children in Weston.
