A day after announcing the departure of its founding chief executive, Access Health CT, the state’s online insurance exchange, has named James R. Wadleigh Jr. as interim CEO.
Wadleigh, who is currently Access’ chief information officer, begins his new role Friday. On Tuesday, Access Health’s current CEO Kevin Counihan announced he was taking a job at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to oversee the federal government’s insurance exchange.
Wadleigh, 47, has served as chief information officer since 2012. His career spans 25 years in information technology across multiple insurance industries including health care, property casualty, life insurance, and annuities. Prior to joining Access Health CT, Wadleigh served as senior director of application development for call center technologies at Cigna.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The University of Vermont and a Master of Science degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.Â
