Spurred by the recurring tragedy of school shootings like Newtown in 2012, West Haven manufacturer The Bilco Co. said it has introduced a freestanding product designed to lock down a room in an emergency.
The Barracuda, developed with SWAT team member, firefighter and military veteran Troy Lowe, is available for both outward and inward swinging doors of varying sizes.
The inward swinging door model uses metal plates that slide under the door, while the outward swinging door model is affixed on the door jamb on either side of the door.
