New York City engineering firm Weidlinger Associates, which has an office in West Hartford, has merged with Thorton Tomasetti of New York City, creating a combined firm of 1,200 employees in 34 cities.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company will remain headquartered in New York City with the two companies maintaining their respective offices under the Thorton Tomasetti name.
The two companies sought to merge together to have a combined 10 practice areas ranging from applied science to protective design to transportation, as well as have a large geographical reach.
The company’s Connecticut office, which is maintained by two engineers, moved to West Hartford in 2011 after being located in Hartford for four years.
