Volunteers Thanked for ‘Extreme’ Efforts

Close to 1,500 volunteers and sponsors who helped on the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” build of a new home for the Hill family of Suffield, gathered at La Renaissance banquet facility in East Windsor, on Oct. 11 to watch the national ABC-TV broadcast of the episode about the project. Rockville Bank and Pecoy Signature Homes of West Springfield, Mass. and Avon, co-hosted and sponsored the air party that also featured the premiere of a “behind the scenes” video on the build, produced by Steven Fowler and Video Experts of East Windsor. La Renaissance donated the entire space for the gathering, Michael Zaskey and Zasco Productions of Chicopee, Mass. contributed all staging and multi-media production, and other sponsors donated talent, materials, and catering. A party raffle and silent auction helped to raise funds toward the build and the family. Right after the broadcast, the 13-member Hill family “choir” thanked their new friends by performing several a cappella songs. Pictured, from left, are: Laurie A.
