Utah-based Vivint Solar said this week that it’s now offering direct purchases and financing options for its Connecticut customers.
Vivint, which opened offices in Stamford and New Haven last summer, has thus far operated under a power-purchase-agreement business model in Connecticut, under which homeowners sign long-term contracts to lock in electricity rates, with ownership of the panels and any related credits or incentives remaining with the company.
Like PPAs, financing costs homeowners nothing up front, but they eventually own the panels.
Vivint said it has also extended its financing option into Maryland and South Carolina, where it also already operates.
The company also offers financing in Arizona, Utah and California.
