Viridian expands to Rhode Island

Stamford competitive electricity supplier Viridian Energy has expanded into Rhode Island, its 16th market in the nation.

Since Rhode Island is a deregulated electricity market, residents and businesses have the option to choose who provides their electricity, although their bills still are sent to them by their local utilities. Using an electric supplier can have advantages, such as better pricing, more renewable energy, and individualized cost structures.

Viridian chose Rhode Island because it is the nation’s second-most densely populated electricity market, and customers can smooth over volatile pricing through certain Viridian products, said Michael Fallquist, founder and CEO of Viridian.
