Norwalk retail electricity supplier Viridian Energy contracted with its 150,000th customer on Tuesday, increasing its customer base by 600 percent since last year.
The company launched 18 months ago and now offers services in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Viridian takes advantage of deregulated markets in those states by offering customers savings off standard utility rates. The electricity supplied by Viridian meets or exceeds the states’ standards for a percentage of power generated by renewable energy.
“We believe a significant contributor to our success is our customers’ mutual commitment to sustainable, environmentally sound energy solutions,” said Michael Fallquist, Viridian founder and CEO.
