Viking Construction earns environmental certification

Bridgeport-based Viking Construction earned the national Associated Builders and Contractors Association’s certified green contractor designation on Tuesday for its sustainable practices.

Viking, founded in 1991, earned the certification by meeting 13 prerequisites such as recycling and electronic documentation distribution. The company also met 12 out of 36 elective items such as water and energy conservation.

“We have traditionally managed our resources very carefully so as not to waste energy, materials,” said Anthony Gaglio, president of Viking Construction, in a statement. “As newer, greener products, services and business practices began to enter our industry we were able to step up our sustainability efforts even more. This is something that is important to our company and to our clients, and we are proud to receive this recognition.”
