In response to the Hartford Business Journal article, “State’s Young Vets Battling For Jobs,” (Dec. 15), one thing young veterans may want to do is contact other businesses owned and managed by veterans. Many veteran-owned businesses prefer to hire other veterans when there are job openings. There are also several companies that specialize in helping recruit veterans. Check out www.VeteranOwnedBusiness.com. There, you will find veteran-owned businesses in just about every industry you can imagine.
I would suggest any veteran serious about finding a job go through and look at the various businesses and contact the owner directly (even if they aren’t looking to hire right now). As a veteran-owned business, my firm would certainly be receptive to receiving resumes from veterans, even if we are not looking to hire right now.
