Vernon receives efficient praise for water system

The Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund on Tuesday recognized the Town of Vernon for installing a new water filtration system.

The Vernon Water Pollution Control Facility received $365,000 from CEEF to install equipment expected to save 37.4 million kilowatt-hours over the life of the products.

“The Fund-supported programs aim to educate residents, businesses and municipalities on how they can become more energy efficient and on the value that efficiency would bring to their homes, businesses and communities,” said Rich Steeves, Energy Efficiency Board chairman, in a statement. “The incentive provided to Vernon allowed them to update their waste processing system, saving the town money up front and in future electric costs.”

The new installed items include fine bubble diffusers, ducting drop leg controls and air blower system controls.
