Enfield and Vernon will split more than $6.3 million in federal cleanup relief stemming from last Halloween weekend freak snowstorm, authorities say.
In October, Enfield will collect $4,148,503 and Vernon $2,184,998 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to pay for costs incurred from debris removal due to the Oct. 29, 2011, Congressman Joe Courtney’s office announced Monday.
The heavy snow caused millions of dollars in damages and left hundreds of thousands statewide without power.
Enfield Mayor Scott Kaupin said his town spent $5.5 million on cleanup and both towns said the FEMA funds will help replenish the town’s fund reserves.
