Verizon Wireless has submitted a letter to the state Department of Labor, outlining its plan to layoff more than 500 workers in its Wallingford and Meriden locations.
According to the WARN Act notice posted Wednesday, the two locations will close and 499 workers will be laid off in Wallingford and 59 in Meriden.
The layoffs are expected to occur within 14 days of March 25, 2017, according to the WARN letter submitted by Carolyn R. Driscoll, director of human resources at Verizon.
“Verizon Wireless is consolidating and restructuring its operations to maximize the utilization of company facilities and resources,” Driscoll said.
The Wallingford location is at 20 Alexander Drive. The Meriden facility is at 599 Research Parkway.
A company spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
