Foxwoods Resort Casino has hired another former Las Vegas gaming executive, Anne Chen, to oversee its broad push to get more Asians to its gaming tables.
Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprises, the tribal casino’s operator, says Chen’s formal title is vice president, player development Asian marketing for Foxwoods.
Under new CEO and President Scott Butera, an ex-Vegas gaming exec who started Jan. 1, Foxwoods narrowed its marketing efforts to focus solely on core customers — those living less than an hour away and Asian gamblers from Boston and New York City.
While business at Foxwoods has slowed in the past decade, Asian customers remain a strong source of revenue, as Asian culture is more accepting of gambling.
Chen was previously with Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas, where she was regional vice president overseeing Asian business development for Caesars’ Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe casinos, and the Harrah’s Reno casino.
Chen reports to Senior Vice President Todd Greenberg. Foxwoods says Chen will be responsible for the strategic direction and tactical execution of all marketing programs focused on the Asian customer segment, including budget formation and compliance; player development functions; and sales and marketing activities.
She has an MBA from the University of Nevada, Reno and was a Chairman’s Award finalist for Harrah’s Excellence in Leadership Award, as well as a Woman of Achievement honoree from the Nevada Women’s Fund.
