ValMark Securities recently presented the Wilson Gray YMCA Youth & Family Center with a check for $2,167 from the ValMark Securities Global Gift Fund to support theĀ Y Achievers Program. Y Achievers fosters academic and career development for youth in grades five through 12.

Hartford Foundation Awards $275K Grant to Visiting Nurse & Health Services
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving recently awarded a grant of $275,000 to Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut to upgrade technology used to support services to clients in 25 communities in eastern and north central Connecticut. The grant will support upgrades that will provide real time data for patients through improved communication using new and cost-effective technology, and optimize overall patient quality of care and outcomes that will decrease hospital re-entry rates and reduce health care costs, according to Todd Rose, president and CEO of the agency.
āThis grant from the Hartford Foundation will help us stay current with technology so that we can make sure we are meeting today’s standards of security, mobile data access, and data retention,ā Rose said.
Ronald McDonald House Awards $198K in Grants
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts has awarded $198,000 to 18 area organizations. The grants provide funding for a variety of initiatives, including new digitized speech processing equipment for hearing-impaired students, technology items for a youth development program, and behavioral therapy equipment for a specialized care center.
Webster Bank $25K Grant Supports Business Counseling
Webster Bank recently awarded the Community Economic Development Fund with $25,000 to support its small business technical counseling. CEDF was created in 1994 to revitalize Connecticut’s distressed neighborhoods by providing greater access to capital, technical assistance to small businesses, and support for community economic development. Since then, CEDF has provided millions of dollars in loans to small businesses, created and retained hundreds of jobs for Connecticut residents, and funded numerous community planning efforts.
Shea & Co. Supports Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
The realtors at Shea & Co. Real Estate recently participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk more than doubling their original fundraising goal by raising more than $2,200 to help fund cancer research.
Hasbro Grants $25,000 to Hole in the Wall Campers
The Hasbro Children’s Fund has granted $25,000 to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp to support the family weekend program. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp conducts weekend programs for families throughout the fall and spring.
Windsor native, Washington Redskins Player Gives to Foodshare
Washington Redskins defensive end and Windsor native Chris Baker was at Foodshare recently to present a $500 check ā the first from the Chris Baker Foundation, which aims to foster education and literacy in the Greater Hartford area.
Baker says that this is the first step in what he hopes will be an ongoing relationship with Foodshare.
