Farmington’s Otis Elevator Co. opened a new elevator plant in the southwest China city of Chongqing, deepening its investment in a market in which it derives more than half its sales.
The LEED Gold standard facility that officially opened last Friday has capacity to produce more than 15,000 elevator units a year, Otis said Wednesday.
LEED means the plant has been built with materials and equipment that meet strict standards for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
It is the second Xizi Otis plant for the company’s Otis China division, the parent said.
