United Technologies Corp.’s Fire & Security division will open in 2011 a Florida facility for testing fire-safety products and technology, UTC said Wednesday.
Ground is breaking at the West Palm Beach site of its Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne subsidiary, where it will be easy for customers to get to and close enough to a hiring pool of talented engineers, officials said. In addition, the facility will be big enough for all kinds of fire-testing.
UTC did not disclose a price tag.
Features will include a test observation room, with viewing windows into the main test hall for live fire tests. An adjacent customer conference room and product display area is also in the plans.
