UTC sells 14 fuel cells in South Korea

South Windsor clean energy manufacturer UTC Power on Wednesday sold 14 of its fuel cell systems to a South Korean energy firm.

Pyeongtaek Energy Service, a subsidiary of SK E&S in South Korea, will install seven of UTC’s PureCell systems in the city of Pyeongtaek in the fall. An additional seven will be installed mid-summer 2013.

The fuel cells will provide electricity under South Korea’s renewable portfolio standards for clean energy generation. The systems also capture the waste heat from the electrochemical process to supply thermal energy to Godeok International City.

All 14 fuel cells will be serviced by UTC Power’s subsidiary in South Korea – UTC Power International Services.

UTC Power is a subsidiary of Hartford conglomerate United Technologies Corp.
