UTC partnership extends fuel cell reach

South Windsor energy manufacturer UTC Power will provide fuel cells to the commercial real estate market throughout the United States, as part of an agreement reached on Wednesday with New York distribution firm.

New York City-based Newmark Energy Solution will become the exclusive distributor of UTC Power stationary fuel cells in the United States. Newmark will permit, design, finance, construction and operate the UTC PureCell fuel cells, growing at a rate of 20 megawatts of installed capacity per year.

UTC Power is a subsidiary of Hartford-based United Technologies Corp.

The distributed generation fuel cells provide allows property owners to generator their own electricity and heating, reducing their reliance on the power grid.
