United Technologies Corp.’s aerospace division and its partner AVIC Electromechanical have opened a manufacturing facility in northwestern China, the companies announced.
The 21,000-square-foot facility, located in a development zone near the capital city of Shaanxi province, will develop and manufacture the electric power system for the Commercial Aviation Corp. of China’s new C919 jetliner.
The 50-50 joint venture is between Hamilton Sundstrand Holdings Inc. — a subsidiary of UTC Aerospace — and AVIC, which is a subsidiary of Commercial Aviation.
The facility will ship its first set of components in the third quarter, the companies said.
