Hartford-based United Technologies Corp. named Margaret M. Smyth vice president and controller. Smyth, 43, was most recently vice president and chief accounting officer for 3M Co. Before that, she held positions as senior partner in technology, media and telecommunications for Deloitte & Touche and audit partner at Arthur Andersen, both in New York City.
