UTC Fire & Security in Farmington is selling its Chubb Security Personnel Ltd. business in the United Kingdom to Swedish rival Securitas AB.
Financial terms of the deal to close in the first quarter were not disclosed.
Chubb Security has sales of more than $159 million and more than 5,000 employees serving as permanent and temporary security guards in 19 locations in the U.K., authorities said.
With its latest U.K. purchase, Securitas will have about 17,500 employees there and rank among its largest security-services providers.

UTC Fire President William Brown said the company’s focus on more technology-driven services is behind the sale.
