UTC Aerospace Systems says will eliminate 71 salaried and hourly positions at its former Hamilton Sundstrand facility in Windsor Locks by late February.
Hartford parent United Technologies Corp. is restructuring the division following its $16.5 billion acquisition last summer of North Carolina aerospace manufacturer Goodrich Corp., having paired the new firm with Hamilton to form UTC Aerospace Systems.
The 71 positions include 30 salaried and 41 hourly positions, a UTC Aerospace spokesman said Wednesday. The reductions include 20 hourly machinists who took a buyout while the remaining are layoffs.
The 51 layoffs will be occur between Feb. 1 and Feb. 28.
The job reductions are part of an ongoing assessment of UTC Aerospace’s labor force and will continue into the foreseeable future, said spokesman Andrew Martin.
