UTC doles $100K to support student interns

United Technologies Corp. is donating $100,000 to a Missouri nonprofit with offices in Hartford and Stamford that arranges paid student internships with it and other U.S. corporations to support new mentorship programs for a diverse pool of high school and college pupils.

UTC announced its contribution to INROADS this week during the organization’s New England region alumni event.

UTC has had a 25-year partnership with the St. Louis, Mo. organization to deliver the Hartford industrial conglomerate with a steady pool of young talent, said J. Thomas Bowler. UTC’s senior vice president for human resources.

UTC says INROADS interns receive on-going coaching and training by a corporate mentor and alumni, access to tutoring, and a skills development plan designed to increase the intern’s soft skills and overall understanding of how to become a high-performer.
